Located in Montenegro, the old town of Kotor is reminiscent of Venice and is ideal for a stroll through its picturesque squares and winding alleys. Stops and visits include the cathedral of St. Tryphon. Cetinje, the former capital of Montenegro, is a stop on the tour. Places of interest include the palace of King Nikola and the Cetinje Monastery. Visit Budva, the most well-known coastal town in Montenero. Overnight in Kotor
After breakfast, enter Albania in Shkoder, a medieval northern town. Rozafa Castle, a 1,000-year-old Illyrian fortification, offers stunning views of Lake Shkoder and the surrounding landscape. Visit the magnificent Mesi Bridge, an 18th-century Ottoman masterpiece erected by local Pasha rulers over the Kir River.Head south to Albania's vibrant capital, Tirana. Take a city tour of Tirana's Ottoman, Italian, and Communist architecture upon arrival. Colorful facades, Skanderbeg Square, Et'hem Bey Mosque, and National History Museum await you. Leave Tirana after breakfast and drive south across mountain passes to North Macedonia. Travel to Ohrid, the “Jerusalem of the Balkans” for its spiritual and cultural treasures, by early afternoon. Start your walking tour through the Lower Gate to the Robev Family House, home to the Archaeological Museum (optional visit), which displays ancient treasures like an Isis statue and local antiques. In the morning, leave North Macedonia and make your way into Greece. After a short while, you'll reach the picturesque village of Kalambaka, which is located at the base of the majestic Meteora rock formations.
